200 challenge reflection

  • Explain the physical activity you participated in. The physical activity that I participated in was an 200 challenge, we had to get into a group of 2, our challenge was to do 200 squats, 200 sit ups and o do 20 laps to the cone and back.
  • What level of effort and engagement were you participating at during today’s physical activity? Why? (Grade yourself NA, A or M and refer to marking criteria) Today I thought that I would grade myself an merit. I gave myself an merit because I would always seek to help and improve my teammate, Like when he was doing squats wrong so I would have to show him how to do. I would also give myself an merit cause I was motivated to try and finish the full 200 and gave it 100% of my best.
  • What were three factors which influenced your participation? (Choose from the list below, and put a + or - beside the three factors to show whether it positively or negatively influenced your participation). + sense of achievement + challenge -Fitness
  • Explain HOW these factors affected your participation (with specific examples) Challenge affected my participation in a positive way because 200 squats and sit ups to me and I had never done that before so I thought that it was challenge for me to try and complete the full 200. Sense of achievement affected me in a positive way because as I said 200 was a lot for me and I thought I could do it so when we did it, it felt I had accomplished something and felt like I could do more. Fitness affected my participation in a negative way because I am really unfit so when I was doing the challenge I got tired fast and decreased my participation.
  • How could you increase your (or your peers) participation in this activity in the future? I think that I could increase my performance by training more in my spare time so that next time I do challenges like this it will be easy.

Sepak Takraw

  • Explain the physical activity you participated in. Sepak takraw is a famous sport played in the Philippines, it is a sport similar to volleyball but you are not allowed to touch the ball with you hands, you can only touch the ball with you feet, chest and head.
  • What level of effort and engagement were you participating at during today’s physical activity? Why? (Grade yourself NA, A or M and refer to marking criteria) If I had to grade myself I would give me an merit. I gave myself a merit because I would all support my teammates by yelling mine, or Kori's, or Autymn name, so that they knew who ball it was and so we all didn't go for the ball at once. I also would give myself an merit because it was hard to kick the ball straight so I would try and find new ways to kick the ball and ways to return it so I could get better, and gave 100% of my ability.
  • What were three factors which influenced your participation? (Choose from the list below, and put a + or - beside the three factors to show whether it positively or negatively influenced your participation). -Skill level +Previous experience -Equipment
  • Explain HOW these factors affected your participation (with specific examples) Skill level affected my participation in a negative way because I wasn't really good at the game and couldn't kick the ball properly, so every time I kicked the ball it would go of into another direction and the other team would get a point. Previous experience affected me in a positive way because I had 0 experience of the game, so it made me more eager to play the game and learn something new. Equipment affect my participation in a negative way because some of the balls where flat and when we would tried and kick the ball it would it would bounce high and go over the net.
  • How could you increase your (or your peers) participation in this activity in the future? To increase my performance I think that I need to try and get my team to learn new things so that they know of to play better. I also think that I need to find knew ways to improve my skills so that I can get more confident,

Newtons Law of motion

  • Who is Sir Isaac Newton? Sir Isaac Newton is a scientist and philosopher who live around the 16 and 17 century. Sir Issac Newton is the person who created the laws for why things move and what cause its to move. They are called Newtons law
  • Explain the 3 Laws? There are three laws which makes up the Newton laws of motion. The first one is called The law of inertia states that an object will be at rest or stay in a constant motion unless it is compelled by an external force. Law two, The law of acceleration, this law explains how the velocity of the object changes, so the law acceleration states that the greater the mass of an object the more force it will take to accelerate the object, Force = mass x acceleration (F=mxa) Law Three, The law of Action/Reaction, This law states that for every actions there is an equal and opposite reaction. For example imagine an trampoline, The action is you pushing down on the tramp and the reaction is the tramp pushing you back up the tramp.
  • How did the game ‘inertia ball’ demonstrate Newton’s Laws? The game inertia ball demonstrated the newtons law a lot. The game demonstrated the law of action/reaction because when we threw the ball at the ball it would react and would bounce back to us. The game also demonstrated the law of inertia because if when we didn't throw balls and the moon ball is would stay in a constant motion going in its direction until it was hit by another ball. The game also demonstrated the law of acceleration because the amount of force on the ball depended the size of the ball, so when we threw the basketball we need more force to throw it because it was the ball with the most mass.

Ultimate Frisbee

  • Explain the physical activity you participated in. Today we participated in a game called ultimate Frisbee. If you are not familiar with the game, it is similar to turbo touch. There are two teams you are not allowed to run with Frisbee so you have to try and pass the Frisbee to your team mates and have to try and catch the Frisbee in the end zone to score a point.
  • What level of effort and engagement were you participating at during today’s physical activity? Why? (Grade yourself NA, A or M and refer to marking criteria) I thought today I would give myself an merit because I would always try and assist my teammates by passing it them all the time and setting them up for goals. I was also always motivated and reliable and would always work hard to get my team points and Gave 100% the whole game.
  • What were three factors which influenced your participation? (Choose from the list below, and put a + or - beside the three factors to show whether it positively or negatively influenced your participation). +Previous experience, - Competition, - Environment, - skill Level
  • Explain HOW these factors affected your participation (with specific examples) Previous experience affected my participation in a positive way because last year I would always play Frisbee with my friends so I knew how to play which made it easier for me. Environment affected my participation in a negative way because it was windy and when we passed the Frisbee it would sometimes fly somewhere else which made it annoying. Skill Level affected my participation in a positive way because I knew good techniques on how to pass the Frisbee, so I had the skills to pay the bills.
  • How could you increase your (or your peers) participation in this activity in the future? I think I could improve my performance by helping my teammate more, like teaching them how to throw the Frisbee. I also think that I could improve my participation by catching the Frisbee better because sometimes I would drop it.

Balance and stability

Three parts of balance and stability are called (COG) Centre of gravity, (LOG) Line of gravity and (BOS) Base of support. To increase you balance and stability you can change the position of your stance by widening you base of support and lowering you centre of gravity and try and keep you line of gravity close to the middle of your base of support. The task we were instructed to do was to try and get into position and create a structure from a sheet of paper which showed different structures we could make and to try and find the COG,LOG and BOS in each structure. What I enjoyed in the activity was that we all came together to make something that I never thought we could do, What was difficult for me was when someone was on my back and would dig there hand into my back which made my back sore and made me almost collapse.

Musculoskeletal system

What are the three types of muscles? Three examples of muscles are, cardiac which is the heart, Skeletal, which are all the muscles connected to you bones and smooth muscles which are, stomach, intestines and bladder.
Describe what agonist and antagonist muscles are? Agonist is a movement in a the muscles which contracts, while the antagonist is movement in the muscle which relaxes. An example is when you flex you arm forward, the biceps brachii(agonist) gets smaller where as the triceps brachii(antagonist) lengthens.
What are some movements in the body and examples of the movement in a sport? Some movements in the body are, Knee flexion, elbow flexion, hip extension, hip flexion, etc. An example of hip flexion in a sport is in football, when you kick the ball. When you kick the ball your your hip and leg go back, the agonist is your gluteus maximus and your antagonist is your illopsoas and satorious.

Choose one activity we have completed in class and describe what your task was.
An activity We did was to draw all the muscle and bone that we were learning about on ovaralls a teammate wore. There were 2 sides, on one half was all the bones and on the other half was all the muscles.

Ki o Rahi reflection

  • Explain the physical activity you participated in.
  • There are two teams called taniwha and Kioma. For taniwha the aim of the aim of the game is to try and throw the ball at the kapu (which is the middle)So they get a point. For the kioma they have to try and go around a touch the pou(which is around the outside)and run into the middle, but they can only in the middle by going through the Te ara and have to put the ball down in the middle in order to get a point. Team with most points wins
  • What level of effort and engagement were you participating at during today’s physical activity? Why? (Grade yourself NA, A or M and refer to marking criteria)I think that my grade for myself is a merit, Because I would support me pairs when the required my assistance by being there when the were in trouble and needed to pass the ball to someone. I was always motivated to play and tried to find and learn new things for my skills and I gave my best during the activity.
  • What were three factors which influenced your participation? (Choose from the list below, and put a + or - beside the three factors to show whether it positively or negatively influenced your participation). - Environment + previous experience -Skill level
  • Explain HOW these factors affected your participation (with specific examples)
  • Environment effected my participation in a negative way because it was cold and windy outside and the ground was muddy which made my shoes dirty which made me not want to play. Previous experience effected my participation in a positive way because I had never play this game before and I was excited because I got to learn a new fun game. Skill level effect my participation in a negative way because since it was a new game for me, I didn't know how to play the game so I was bad and my skills weren't that good.
  • How could you increase your (or your peers) participation in this activity in the future? To increase my participation I think I need to try and learn the game more so that I know what to do and help my friend understand the game.
